This year has been designated the year of the honeybee. To mark the occasion the Westport, Ballina, and Connemara Beekeepers Associations will have a stand at Féile na Tuaithe (May 21 and 22 ) in the grounds of the Museum of Country Life, at Turlough, Castlebar.
There will also be a sizeable representation from the FIBKA (Federation of Irish Beekeeper’s Associations ). The theme of the presentation, “From the Honeybee to the Table,” will include almost every aspect of beekeeping. A visit to the stand may be the first step towards a lifetime hobby that is rewarding in so many ways.
