The 75th anniversary of the dropping of atomic bombs by the US military on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagaskai will be commemorated in Galway in August.

The 72nd anniversary of the dropping of the US atom bomb on Hiroshima will be marked this Sunday at 1pm in Eyre Square. The event will also seek to raise awareness of the growing dangers of nuclear conflict.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki on August 9 1945, a Peace event to commemorate the 200,000 men, women, and children who perished, will be held in Galway.
