Athlone Choral Society will host their annual Christmas concert in St Mary’s Church of Ireland on Sunday, December 10, at 6pm.

Athlone Choral Society will celebrate 30 years of song with a summer concert, featuring special guests Iontas Choir and Daren Lane, in St Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 27, at 7pm.

As Athlone continues preparations for the festive season, it will be an occasion to remember for local girl Ruby Morrissey when she turns on the Christmas lights on Sunday evening.

Founded in 1993 by Mr. Paschal Gough, the Athlone Choral Society (ACS) celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Based in Athlone, the ACS is an active community choir with over 40 members, including some of its founding members, from Westmeath, Roscommon and across the Midlands. Its first Chairperson was Ms. Brid Downes and since its formation the choir has given two main performances a year, at Christmas and in May, ably guided by distinguished directors, accompanists and invited guests.

Athlone Choral Society will be joined by Amarillo Girls Concert Choir from Texas, USA, for a special concert to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
