Singing Soldier to perform at Friary Church

The Singing Soldier, Sgt David Martin, has performed on many occasions in the Friary Church with the Army Band, and now he returns with his new concert 'A Christmas Night At The Opera.' The event takes place on January 7, 2018.

Sgt Martin will be accompanied by a guest soprano, Jillian Saunders on piano and Maria Mason on violin. The concert will also feature the local Athlone Choral Society conducted by Andrius Kozlovskis.

This beautiful concert will be fused throughout with well known Christmas favourites and will feature the song “Silent Night, Christmas 1914” from David's CD, Tranquillo.

This spectacular performance will also include some favourite operatic arias from La Boheme, Tosca, La Traviata and Rigoletto. It will also feature popular songs from the musicals Le Miserables, Chess and The Student Prince along with magnificent Irish romantic ballads such as "Macushla," "I hear you calling me," the beautiful "Oh Danny Boy" and many more.

"A Christmas Night at the Opera" promises to be a very enjoyable evening of entertainment, which will suit an audience of all ages.
