Cork almost coughed up a nine point lead against Derry and clung on by the skin of their teeth. Donegal were meant to cruise home against Meath in Ballybofey, (1/5 in the bookies before throw in) a late Michael Murphy point securing a draw for them. In the lower divisions Carlow turned over Antrim who were overwhelming favourites, how on earth can you try to pick winners for round five? Cheltenham may be a little easier and I know nothing about horses.

Ardrahan and Portumna Camogie supporters will be on the road early this Sunday to Moneygall in Offaly in support of their respective teams in the All-Ireland club semi-finals.

Reigning provincial and All-Ireland club champions St Brigid’s will be more than comfortable in their surrounds when they take on Mayo champions Castlebar in the Connacht club football final in Dr Hyde Park this Sunday at 2pm. The Kiltoom men are bidding for a remarkable four-in-a-row of provincial titles but will get nothing easy from the men from Castlebar who caused a major surprise by accounting for a fancied Corofin in their semi-final.

Portumna qualified for the county final against Loughrea in two weeks’ time when they defeated All-Ireland club champions St Thomas by 0-18 to 2-11 in Saturday’s replay at Kenny Park.

Reigning county, provincial, and All-Ireland club champions St Brigid’s put their title on they line as the take on neighbours Clann na nGael in what promises to be an intriguing county semi-final. The current champs against the former kingpins. What a pity it is not being played in the south of the county where a huge neutral crowd from the Athlone area would surely be in attendance.

Mayo welcome Roscommon to Castlebar on Sunday for the Connacht semi-final and a right to play either London or Leitrim in the Connacht final. It sounds a bit surreal, but yes, London could be in a Connacht final. With the current upheaval in Leitrim and four players designated to the scrapheap for disciplinary reasons I may just fancy a flutter on London to make the final. Leitrim have a small enough panel to pick from without losing players, most notably Wayne McKeon, arguably one of their best players, but that’s for another day.
