The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage recently launched ‘Under Darkening Skies’ a public art commission by the visual artist Susan Mannion at the Ballycroy Visitor Centre at Wild Nephin National Park.

The distinctive call of the corncrake is something that once heard is never forgotten. While it's not the most pleasing on the ear, you have an opportunity next Friday night to hear it's distinctive call on a midnight corncrake tour on the Mullet Peninsula. As part of the Erris Beo festival and in conjunction with Belmullet Tidy Towns and Ballycroy National Park, a midnight corncrake tour will take place. This is a chance to experience it in the Wild Erris region.
