Dinosaur petting zoo comes to the TF

It is a petting zoo, but not as you know it and it is coming to the Royal Theatre Castlebar on July 23 and 24. The eye-popping visual feast that is the dinosaur petting zoo is an extraordinary performance that takes children and adults on an interactive, prehistoric, journey through an incredible cast of dinosaurs that inhabited our world millions of years ago. Children will get up close and personal with these amazingly life-like creatures during this fun-filled show. Earth’s menagerie of ancient beasts is brought to life via various forms of human powered puppetry from the heart-meltingly cute baby dryosaurs to the awe-inspiring giant allosaur. Children of all ages can get hands-on access to the dinosaurs and may even become a part of this exciting show if one of the dinosaurs takes a fancy to them.

Gemma Hayes live in Castlebar

Gemma Hayes has long established herself as one of Ireland's top musical talents. Her much anticipated fourth studio album, due out in May, is an evolution of Gemma's unique style of music, combining prog rock, folk and electronica. She will be in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on May 25 for what promises to be a great show. The album is another collaboration with producer David Odlum, and features Paul Noonan of Bell X1 and Ann Scott, among others.

Fund-raising concert in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin

Sean Nós ar an tSionann are holding a fund-raising concert in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin in the Royal Theatre Castlebar on Saturday May 14. This lively sean nós dance group come from Sligo Leitrim and Roscommon and recently made it to the final of the All Ireland Talent Show and had pledged to donate the prize money if they won the show to this hospital if they won. The group did not go on to win the All Ireland Talent Show this year so have decided to hopefully raise as much money by holding a fund-raising concert with the help of their musical friends and some of Irelands most talented acts.

Even more opera magic at Mayo Movie World

On opening night of the 2008-09 New York Metropolitan Opera season, Renée Fleming dazzled audiences when she sang the final scene of Strauss's wise and worldly meditation on art and life. Now she performs the entire work, in which the composer explores the essence of opera itself in Strauss’ Capriccio, Matthew Polenzani and Sarah Connolly also star, and Andrew Davis conducts.

You can catch the opera live direct from the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, in full high definition and in full surround sound on Saturday April 23 at 6pm at Mayo Movie World, Castlebar.
