Campaign delivers €100m to BMW region

Retail Excellence welcomes increase in consumer sentiment

Retail Excellence Ireland, Ireland’s largest industry trade body, said that it welcomes the increase in consumer sentiment in January 2013. The latest KBC Ireland/ESRI Consumer Sentiment Index rose to 64.2 in January from 49.8 in December.

Mayo TDs at odds over success of Action Plan on Jobs

Mayo’s representatives in Dáil Éireann are at odds about whether the Government’s Action Plan on Jobs is working.

On the one hand the Fianna Fáil spokesperson on jobs, Dara Calleary, says the latest progress report by the Government on their Action Plan for Jobs confirms it is simply not working. While on the other hand, Deputy John O’Mahony says that the measures being implemented under the plan are helping to rebuild our economy.

Eighty nine new jobs were created in the Mayo Gaeltacht

A total of 89 new jobs were created in the Mayo Gaeltacht in 2012, a net gain of 36 new jobs on the previous year. This was revealed in a statement issued by Anna Ní Ghallachair, chairperson, and Steve Ó Cúláin, chief executive, Údarás na Gaeltachta.

There were 711 full-time equivalent jobs in Údarás-supported companies in the Mayo Gaeltacht at the year end. Companies involved mainly in the manufacturing, construction related, and services sectors saw growth in employment during the year.
