A total of €500,000 in start-up funding will be available from Enterprise Ireland when a new Competitive Start Fund (CSF) competition aimed at experienced business professionals opens this week for applications. This CSF is directed at mature and highly experienced business professionals with 25 years or more of relevant business experience in Ireland or abroad, of which at least 10 years should be at a senior or leadership level.

Claremorris’s Margaret Prendergast claimed third place in the Bord Bia All Ireland Quality Potato Championships for her local potatoes. The competition, held at the Tullamore Show, is designed to increase the level of awareness among growers of what constitutes a good quality potato. It is estimated that a total of 9,800 hectares of potatoes are grown by an estimated 540 growers in Ireland.
