One of Mayo's young digital whizz kids, Aoibheann Mangan, was on hand to launch the International Coolest Projects competition in Dublin recently.
The 11-year-old from Hollymount knows her way around computer coding, having been crowned as European Digital Girl last year in Brussels and also winning the International Coolest Project competition in 2017.
Her project entitled 'Hospital Holly and Henry' was the creation of a set of dolls designed to help children who would be receiving treatment in hospital. The dolls react with a Scratch interface that was coded by Aoibheann.
She coded the project to show animations of what happens if patients needed to have an x-ray, blood test, use a drip, and other medical procedures.
Coolest Projects is a world-leading showcase that empowers and inspires the next generation of digital creators, innovators, change makers, and entrepreneurs. It offers young people from the international CoderDojo community the opportunity to present the projects they have created at their local dojo.
