The St Patrick’s Day parade in Lahardane this year is expected to be one of the largest the north Mayo village has ever seen.
Ireland’s Titanic Village is set to host an American high school marching band on Saturday, March 17.
Some 50 members of the Hayes High School band from Delaware are coming to participate in Lahardane’s parade and will be accompanied by 30 chaperones.
The visit is the culmination of a link between local businessman William Barrett and members of Delaware’s Sister City Board which promotes and maintains twin town links.
It is hoped that if the visit is a success it could lead to a twinning of the village with the American city and complete an official link.
Locals are being urged to get out in force to support the parade at 2pm on Saturday, March 17, to avail of the chance to see an American high school band perform live.
The parade will also be streamed on the popular 'Lahardane Live' Facebook page.
