Reel Deel to brew up a storm in Dublin

A Mayo brewery will be showcasing its unique line of drinks at Ireland's largest gathering of craft brewers and distillers in Dublin next month.

Reel Deel Brewing Company will be taking its place alongside 50 other exhibitors at the Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair in the Convention Centre from Thursday, March 8, to Saturday, March 10.

The Crossmolina based brewery started life at the kitchen table of Marcus and Catherine Robinson six years ago and they now produce more than half-a-dozen craft brews a year at their brewery at Knockalegan, near the north Mayo town.

Quality and not quantity is the key to the brewery's success to date according to founder Marcus who said: "We are one of the smaller breweries in Ireland and we are growing sales by concentrating on quality not by cutting prices to the bone. Education is the biggest challenge, convincing people that they should try something new, tasty, and local.”

The brewery now produces four core products, including the "Say Nowt" stout and "Jack the Lad" pale ale, along with seasonal specials such as the juniper and orange ale brewed in collaboration with James Brown Brews, and a whiskey barrel aged brown ale with Connacht Whiskey Company.

The fair will also host a series of live events from leading industry magazine the Brewers Journal. The half day event will feature lectures, delivered by six expert speakers, designed to inspire change, generate discussion, and share brewing.
