Anne Conlon is new Network Ireland Mayo branch president

Network Ireland, Mayo Branch has announced the election of Anne Conlon as its new president for 2018. The election took place at the recent AGM. Ms Conlon, who is managing director of Castlebar-based Conlon Training since its establishment in 2010, was delighted to accept the nomination. As part of this role Ms Conlon is on the national executive, a role she took up in 2017 as vice president of Network Mayo. She was also appointed to the national sponsorship group in 2017, which is responsible for the funding of all 15 Networks in Ireland.

Anne Conlon has extensive career experience in senior management roles, sales, training, and education. Management roles have included branch manager with Value Centre Cash and Carry in both Castlebar and Carrickmacross, from where she transitioned to the role of senior account manager with Corporate Express Ireland. She was then head-hunted by Independent News and Media Group for the position of sales manager of the Irish Independent Directory. She is a graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway with an honours degree in training and education (2014 ) and a master's in adult learning and development (2016 ). She is a qualified coach and NLP practitioner (2006 and 2007 ). Her studies have allowed her to gain expertise in areas of importance to all those in business, including sales, motivation, stress management, and time management. She is a strong believer in empowerment, personal development, and confidence-building and brings all of this to her new role as president of Network Ireland, Mayo Branch.

Speaking after the meeting Ms Conlon said: “I am very honoured to be elected president of Network Ireland, Mayo Branch, as it is an organisation that is in a strong position to support all females, both employers and employees. I firmly believe that women get to know each other first, trust each other, and then do business. My goal for Network Ireland and specifically the Mayo Branch is to become an organisation that every woman knows and wants to be a member of. The events planned for 2018 are to encourage women to come out and enjoy the company of other like-minded women.”

Paying tribute to both national and local sponsors of Network Ireland (AIB, Vodafone and Local Enterprise Office Mayo ), Ms Conlon thanked them for all the support they have given to Network Ireland, Mayo Branch, and stated that she looked forward to working with them throughout the coming year.

The first event of the year is on Wednesday, January 24, in Breaffy House Hotel Castlebar at 7.30pm. The topic is 'Reaching your True Potential in the Workplace’. Michael Kilcullen, managing director of Cúchulainn Consultancy in Ballina, will lead a presentation on the benefits of using psychometric testing in business. The presentation will focus on promotion within the workplace and looking at people's talents. This will be followed by music with Jason Moyles and dancing until 11pm.

One of the much-anticipated events of 2018 will be the first Network Mayo Conference taking place in the Mount Falcon Hotel, Ballina, on May 18 with guest speaker Chanelle McCoy. The winners of the Network Mayo Business Awards will be announced at the conference. Applications for the awards, which are open to members only, will be accepted from the March 8, International Women’s Day.
