Louisburgh looks forward to 2018 10K

The Louisburgh Clew Bay Half Marathon and 10K event for 2017 went off this year without any hitch.

The event welcomed record numbers for both races to Louisburgh with registrations over 400 for the first time in the event’s seven year history.

The 2018 event promises all the positivity that has been part of the event and speculation that the event will sell out is well-founded as registrations have quadrupled in the last two years.

Organisers are looking forward to capping the event at 500 so that the experience can be managed to the level that has become synonymous with the event. Of course the success is achieved as a result of the support of the community at large and all the volunteers and organisers. From the signs to the vittles, from the runners to the stewards, from the local businesses to the local inhabitants - all pulled together to show Louisburgh in its best light.

The people who came in to claim prizes for speed in this year's event were: Colette Tuohy, Brendan Gill, Patricia McLoughlin, Barry Thornton, Marian O’Malley, Patrick Morrison, Michelle Needham and Alan Stafford.

In the 10K the prizewinners included: Matthew McMeekin, Deirdre Galvin, Daithi Murphy, Laura Coy, Michael Rooney, Lydia Hession, Ian Williams and Mairead Duffy.

The organisers thank all who helped in any way and additionally express gratitude to the sponsors, Staunton’s Allcare Pharmacy Louisburgh, Gala Louisburgh, MacNamara’s Bar, Portwest, George Gibbons, Jack Dylan Jewellers, Knockranny House Hotel, Séamus Duffy The Bookshop, Louisburgh Order of Malta, Louisburgh Horse Show, David O’Malley Office Machine Solutions, Aidan Durkan Graphic Design, Delphi Resort, Just Stickers, and the musicians at the after party.

Also a big thank you to all the community members who continue to support and help the event in any way possible.

The 2018 Louisburgh Clew Bay Half Marathon and 10K, which will be the eighth annual event, will be held on Saturday September 22 2018. You can register now at www.popupraces.ie
