With the festive season just around the corner, Folens, one of Ireland’s leading educational publishers, is preparing to to celebrate the sixth year of their Christmas Annaul Charity Campaign. The campaign, which has proved incredibly successful over the years, involves over 450 Christmas annuals being donated to children’s wards across Mayo.
This Christmas, Folens is also preparing to celebrate the sixth year of their Christmas Annual Charity Campaign. The campaign, which has proved incredibly successful over the years, involves over 8,000 Christmas annuals being donated to children’s wards across the country.
For over 47 years, Folens has delighted children with their much-loved annuals, which continue to appeal to young people today thanks to their engaging and current content. Entitled ‘Sugradh, Sonas, Siamsa and Spraoi’ the Folens Christmas annual resonates in the minds of many Irish people as the must-have Christmas stocking filler.
Packed full of quizzes and activities, jokes, Irish language activities and fiction and non-fiction stories, it is hoped that this year’s donation of annuals will help to brighten the festive period for children receiving care in over 23 children’s wards nationwide.
Elizabeth Ivory, Marketing Manager at Folens, added; “We are thrilled to launch the sixth year of the Folens Christmas Annual Charity Campaign. We are conscious that the festive period can be a very challenging time for children receiving care and their families and we hope that our annuals will help to lift their spirits and add a little festive cheer.
“Over the last five years, we have donated thousands of Christmas annuals to the many children’s wards throughout the country. This year we will donate a further 8,000 annuals and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the CHI and all of the children’s care units for their continued help and support.”
The Folens Christmas Annual Charity Campaign would not be possible without the support of the dedicated volunteers of Children’s Hospital Ireland (CHI ), who help to distribute the annuals throughout children’s wards nationwide. CHI is a voluntary organisation working directly with children in hospitals to help them cope with illness and hospitalisation through the provision of daily play sessions, and provides ongoing support to families.
Anna Gunning, CEO of Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI ), said: “Play is fundamental to the wellbeing of children’s lives, especially when they are dealing with a changed environment and the upset of illness particularly at Christmas which can be a tough time to be in hospital. Fun activities including puzzles, memory games, and the wonderful make believe world of storytelling can bring such joy through imagination and take a child’s mind off their worries.”
