Castlebar Musical and Dramatic Society present - White Christmas

Castlebar Musical and Dramatic Society are ready to entertain audiences of all ages with their next production, White Christmas. For their fourth production, the society have picked a wonderful Christmas tale that is sure to delight audiences old and young. This heart-warming production will come to Castlebar on Thursday, November 30, Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2 and will be performed in the impressive surroundings of GMIT. The shows will be performed nightly at 8pm with an additional matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30pm.

The stage version of the hit film that starred Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye was first produced in 2000 in the USA and this is the first time for the show to come to the west of Ireland. The songs from the musical are all written by Irving Berlin and feature some well-known classics including "Sisters", "The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing" and festive favourites "Happy Holidays" and "White Christmas".

The story and songs will be brought to life by extremely talented local performers, some of whom are no strangers to the stage and some treading the boards for the very first time. The roles of Bob Wallace and Phil Davis will be played by Ronan Egan and AIMS award-winner, John Byrne. Betty and Judy Haynes will be brought to life by Vivienne Lee and Stephanie Cassol. Along the way they will meet a host of characters played by newcomers Carrie Doran, Brendan Mullins and Andy Hannon along with returning performers Michael Goulding, Emma Daly and Jim Finan.

Director, Donna Ruane, another AIMS award winner, is delighted to be at the helm of this fantastic production, “We are very excited to bring this wonderful show to Castlebar. White Christmas will give local people a terrific opportunity to showcase their musical and dramatic talents. We’re also really excited to be kicking off the Christmas spirit in Castlebar with such a heart-warming, festive family-show.” Donna will be joined by the extremely talented Deirdre Lee as Musical Director for the show and they will be joined by the wonderfully accomplished choreographer Hazel Lloyd.
