St Joseph’s, Castlebar set to Rock You!

Following the success of its musicals in recent years, St Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar, once again is delighted to present its TY musical of 2017, Schools Will Rock You, based on the songs of the legendary band Queen and the iconic Freddie Mercury.

If hurricane Ophelia has not blown you away, St Joseph’s Secondary School most certainly will. Follow the hero, Galileo, played by Karagh Neary, and his “badass babe”, Scaramouche, played by Megan Brett, as they embark on their quest to save rock music and defeat the Killer Queen, played by Shelley Jordon. This upbeat hilarious storyline is accompanied by Queen’s greatest hits, will have you rocking and singing along from the get-go, to such songs as "It’s a Kinda of Magic’", "We will Rock You" and the one of the greatest hits of all times’ "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Under the expert guidance of musical director Deirdre Lee, stage director Donna Ruane, choreographer Hazel McLynn, set design Ann Geary and Ruth Flannely, and costume designers Niamh Sweeney and Aoife Durcan the show is sure to be a huge triumph. The cast of 90 students is accompanied by the school orchestra and Mick Buckton, Tom Lyons, and Raf Dziubinski. The students are all working tirelessly since the beginning of September to perfect the performance and are eagerly awaiting the opening night. So join Sacarmouche and the cast of St Joseph’s for a great night's entertainment for all the family.

The show is to be held in the wonderful setting of TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on Thursday, November 16, and Friday, November 17. The tickets are €10 and can be purchased from the school reception or at the door on the night. A raffle will also be held on the night, with great prizes to be won.
