Mayo U18s win in Clare to go to two from two

Vollyball: U18 League

The U18s Mayo Volleyball Club defeated Clare in Ennis on Sunday. Both teams started slowly in the opening set. The two sides were exchanging many scores until Mayo settled midway though unleashing a rally of scores finishing with a 25-15 win.

Mayo upped the ante in the second set as they powered through the opposition thanks to the impressive defensive play at the net. Mayo won the set 25-10. The red and green did not have it their way in the third set as they struggled to return the aggressive hits and serves from the Clare ladies. Clare found their rhythm winning 25-18.

In the fourth set Mayo introduced the libero player which improved their defence. Mayo steadied the ship with a measured 25-20 win, therefore winning the match 3-1. This victory brings Mayo U18s' tally to two wins from two in their first Western Volleyball competition.

Tomorrow, Saturday October 7, the Mayo Ladies Senior team play their opening fixture after securing promotion to division one against Newbridge in St Louis Community School gym at 1.30pm.
