Get a step ahead with Ballina's newest podiatry clinic

Step Ahead Footcare is a podiatry clinic, which will be opening its doors for business on Monday, October 16, in Garden Court, Garden Street, Ballina. While the main clinic will be based in Ballina, clinics will also be provided bimonthly in Ballyhaunis, Ballymote, Killala, Kiltimagh, and Tubbercurry.

Podiatry is a healthcare profession which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg. This podiatry clinic will offer routine chiropody care (eg, treatment of corns, callus, verruca, fungal nails, etc ), insole/orthotic provision, diabetic assessments, lower limb acupuncture, footwear advice, wound/ulcer care, and more. Foot problems are not confined to the elderly and this clinic will provide a podiatry service to all age groups.

Step Ahead Footcare will be run by its owner, Elaine Igoe, who is a qualified podiatrist having graduated from the National University of Ireland Galway with a first class (hons ) degree in podiatry. In 2015 she was awarded a university scholarship in recognition of her academic achievements. She is experienced in all aspects of podiatry having treated patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, private practices, and nursing homes.

As Ballina is Elaine Igoe’s hometown, setting up there was an obvious choice for her. She recognises the importance of having such vital services available to the people of the town and surrounding areas and her goal is to provide a high quality service to the locals. She is hopeful that her podiatry service will be an asset to Ballina and is happy that she can give something back to the town.
