No Crows for Christ Church gig on Friday

You will be in for a real treat to have the opportunity to listen to No Crows in Christ Church, Castlebar, this evening, Friday. No Crows are a dynamic folk orchestra formed in 2005 playing their first session in Shoot The Crows, Sligo. No Crows’ growing output of original material reflects their diverse musical roots, from Irish traditional to Latin rumba, classical, jazz, rock, and Balkan music.

No Crows celebrates 12 years of its musical journey in 2017 with a fifth ablum, entitled Why Us? They have toured Switzerland, Belgium, and The Netherlands in 2017 as well as playing a number of Irish festivals over the summer period, including Ballyshannon’s 40th Anniversary Folk Festival and Baltimore Fiddle Fair.

No Crows have a multicultural identity with members from Ireland, Switzerland, Mallorca, and Russia which influences their music greatly. Love for music brought them together and it is that passion that shines through in their performances. No Crows’ music takes you to places you have only ever imagined, the joy you find within their music is unique, the kind you never even knew existed until you hear one of their tunes.

All six members are talented singers with Felip Carbonell on guitar and percussion, Ray Coen plays guitar and fiddle, Anna Houston plays cello and mandolin, Eddie Lee plays double bass and electric bass, Oleg Ponomarev plays violin, and Steve Wickham plays the fiddle and mandolin. Be prepared for flowing trad melodies often fused with bluegrass and jazz, with funk, Latin, or gypsy rhythms. A concert not to be missed this evening at Christ Church, Castlebar.
