National Museum of Ireland – Country Life launches new autumn/winter events

Something for everyone in diverse new programme.

The National Museum of Ireland – Country Life has just launched an exciting new programme of free events for October, November, December.

The autumn/winter series includes talks, tours, workshops and performances on a broad range of topics, inspired by the collections of the museum.

From Vikings and Halloween crafts to history, creative writing and knitting, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Highlights include a craft demonstration on Viking era weapons and jewellery on October 4; a social history seminar on October 14; and a Spooky Shadow Puppets workshop for families on November 2.

The museum is also delighted to announce that the Director of the National Museum of Ireland, Raghnall Ó Floinn, will be at Turlough Park on November 23 to deliver a special talk on Vikings in the Irish countryside. Mr Ó Floinn will explore the evidence of Viking activity outside the Dublin area during the ninth and 10th centuries.
