A Ballinrobe man was convicted and fined €750 in his absence in Ballyhaunis District Court this week for allowing a child to be carried unrestrained in the front of his van.
Edward Sweeney, 8 The Foundry, Ballinrobe, was stopped by Garda Patrick O’Hara at 11.05am on July 17 2008 on the Kilmaine Road, Ballinrobe. The passenger in the car was carrying a seven month old baby in her arms.
A fixed penalty notice was issued and the fine was not paid. Judge Geoffrey Browne convicted and fined Sweeny €750.
