The Rain Shines at Bar Ritz

Last Saturday night Green Lights and The Bastard Rain plus support from Kudoose bought an evening of excellent live entertainment To Bar Ritz (Mulroys Bar ) Castlebar. At 9.30pm local group Kudose took to the stage playing acoustic versions of Jose Gonzalez’s take on The Knifes’ version ‘Heartbeats’ right through to The Stone Roses’ ‘Waterfall’.

At 10.30 Dublin band Green Lights took to the stage to play their last gig before lead singer Colin Boylan travels to Japan.

Playing tracks from their two EPs, These Curious Things right through to their second EP Time to Tell the Parents, with the ever catchy ‘Mad as Hell’ as one of the stand-out tracks of the evening, if this was to be Green Lights’ swansong it was a live performance to be remembered.

With a name like The Bastard Rain you would be right in thinking music of a dark nature, brooding and bleak, is their forte, however it is peppered with moments of pure excellence. Showcasing material from their new album Of Stolen Birds with tracks titled ‘John the Revelator’ and ‘Devil for the Dumb’, lead singer Eoin Cotter’s voice was compared to those of Jim Morrison and Nick Cave.

Finbar would like to thank the following people for helping out on the night, Karen Conway, Garret Waldron, Chris Rippingale, Kate McKeon photography, and West Coast Audio for providing sound. Check wwwmyspace/finbarhobanpresents.com for updates and photos of last Saturday’s show.

Coming soon to Bar Ritz: Finbar Hoban Presents…Sleep Thieves with support from Heritage Centre and 21 Outs.
