Over €30k up for grabs in Breaffy GAA Monster Auction

Breaffy GAA is hosting a Monster Auction later this month which will see goods and services worth in excess of €30,000 up for grabs. The innovative fundraiser will take place in Breaffy GAA Clubhouse on Saturday, May 27, getting underway at 6.30pm.

Among the many tempting items set for auction are one to one coaching sessions with some of the club's county stars - the three O'Shea brothers and Rob Hennelly. Breaffy’s county men are all gladly offering their services for the club fundraiser and GAA fanatics will be able to bid for a novel present for their son or daughter, a dream come true for a young Mayo fan. Or maybe even a young at heart Mayo fan!

But that's not all. Some very unique packages are on offer. For instance, both RTÉ and Sky Sports have each kindly provided a behind the scenes package at a big Mayo match for fans to see how a live TV production comes together. Those prizes also include match tickets and a meet and greet with Mayo players afterwards.

There are hundreds of items up for grabs and full details will be published on Breaffy GAA's website in the coming days, and range from vouchers for local businesses to match tickets to hotel accommodation and everything in between.

Those gathered on the night of what will be a fun-filled and entertaining auction will all be able to enter a raffle where a number of substantial prizes will be up for auction, so even if you don’t bid successfully for an item, you could still walk away with something memorable.

Well-known Castlebar auctioneer Tommy Collins will preside over the auction. The auction will get underway at 6.30pm but specific times for the auction of each item will be posted on the club’s website and social media pages in advance of the auction. This way, you can arrive at just the right time for the item or items you are interested in bidding for.

There will also be an option to phone in bids and to place a reserve bid on an item. The club’s website will this week include a full list of all items up for grabs, kindly sponsored by businesses and people in the Breaffy and Castlebar areas and further afield.

Indeed, the excitement will start in advance of the day itself with online only bidding for some of the most sought after items taking place in the days before the auction itself. “We wanted to organise a fundraiser with a difference and we’re blown away by the positive response by so many businesses and individuals to support this and we think there will be some great value for money on the night. It is the talk of the place,” said Breaffy GAA Secretary Nuala Bourke.
