Cycling Ireland Ride Leader Award in Achill

As part of its Achill Goal to Work sports coach training programme Mayo Sports Partnership, in association with Cycling Ireland, is hosting a Ride Leader Award training programme on Saturday, May 20 based in Tonragee Community Centre. The course will run from 9am to 5pm and the Cycling Ireland Ride Leader Award aims to provide leaders with an introduction to cycle leading and the competencies required to lead and manage groups on a cycle.

Cycling Ireland Ride Leader training will provide leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively lead and manage a group of cyclists on the road in club/group rides. The course will explore the roles and responsibilities the ride leader will assume and prepare learners as ride leaders to provide safe and enjoyable cycling experiences for people of all levels of ability and age.

The Ride Leader Course is made up of 11 modules: (1 ) Introduction, (2 ) Managing Risk, (3 ) Safety Checks, (4 ) Assessing Rider Ability, (5 ) Group Riding Skills, (6 ) Snaking, (7 ) Planning a Cycle, (8 ) Leading a Ride, (9 ) Leadership Skills, (10 ) Safeguarding, and (11 ) Review and What Next.
