According to the latest figures from the CSO, there were 753 marriages in Mayo last year, including 10 same sex marriages. The figures show that the vast majority of marriages were Roman Catholic marriages with 592 taking place. The next highest number was 101 civil marriages, of which seven were between same sex couples.
There were 18 humanist weddings, including one same sex couple, while there were eight Church of Ireland marriages, and 20 in other religions. There were also 13 Spiritualist Union of Ireland marriages, including two for same sex couples.
The CSO also released data on divorces and separations, with 100 applications for divorce in the county being made and 82 granted. Of 26 applications for judicial separations in Mayo last year, 10 were granted. There was one annulment application made and none granted, according to the data.
