Do you want to put a smile on a sick child’s face?

Do you have two to three hours to spare weekly? Would you like to make hospital a happier place for a sick child? Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI ) would love to hear from you. CHI is one of Ireland’s leading children’s charities providing play and fun for sick children in hospital around the country for 45 years.

The organisation needs your help to organise play activities for hospitalised sick children, from painting, helping with jigsaws or board games, to simple arts and crafts or reading stories in Mayo University Hospital. It is currently appealing for volunteers, to volunteer in Mayo University Hospital. Volunteers are required for mornings/afternoons and weekends. No evenings are required.

The upcoming introduction and interview evening will take place on Thursday, March 23, at 6pm in Castlebar . If you are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer with CHI RSVP to [email protected] or (01 ) 290 3510. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend a training session to be held on Sunday, April 2, from 10am to 4pm, also in Castlebar. It asks anyone interested not to contact the hospital directly about this programme.

Volunteers must be over 18 years, enthusiastic, caring, reliable, and have two to three hours a week to spare and be prepared to sign up for a year. All volunteers will undergo Garda vetting. A comprehensive training programme will be provided for volunteers, as well as ongoing support.
