Mindspace Mayo launches outreach service in Ballina

Mindspace Mayo have recently opened its second outreach service located in Ballina in order to facilitate and support young people in this area. It can be particularly difficult for young people in more rural areas of the county to find and attend support services when they feel distressed. These young people face major barriers that prevent them from attending services such as lack of transport, geographical distance, sense of isolation, and confidentiality.

Mindspace Mayo is a free, confidential, support service for those aged between 15 and 25 in Mayo. It provides non-judgmental listening and supportive guidance to young people experiencing a difficult or distressing time. Advice and guidance is also provided to anybody who is concerned about a young person’s mental health.

The aim of the Mindspace outreach programme in Ballina is to provide essential support for young people in their own locality, in a setting that feels safe and comfortable for the young person. Mindspace is available every Monday from 10am to 4pm in the Ballina Family Resource Centre (Abbey Street ) and provides one-to-one support for young people living in Ballina and surrounding areas (Crossmolina, Killala, Foxford, Ardagh, Knockmore, Bonniconlon, Ballycastle and others. This is for pre-arranged appointments only, with no drop in facility available at this centre.

To book an appointment you can email, text, or contact Mindspace on (094 ) 9067001. Referral forms and further information can also be found at www.mindspacemayo.ie
