Westport House up for national award

Just before Christmas, Westport House found out that it had been shortlisted in the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC ) Awards for Best Leisure Tourism Innovation.

The ITIC awards give recognition to and promote people, companies and organisations – overseas and at home – that have made significant contributions to developing, marketing, selling and delivering improved visitor experiences in Ireland and to increasing the number of visitors from overseas.

In their category they will face competition from the Commissoners of Irish Lights for various projects, Spike Island in Cork, Lough Key Forest and Activity Park in Roscommon and Powercourt House in Wicklow.

The judging panel is made up of highly qualified folks from diverse industries as well as from within tourism. It includes Maurice Pratt of Uniphar Plc, Philip Browne of the IRFU, Noirin Hegarty of Lonely Planet, Simon McKeever of the Irish Exporters Association and Marian O’Gorman of The Kilkenny Group. The winners will be announced at the Gala Event and Dinner on Friday, February 3 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin.
