Tickets are selling very fast for what will be one of the biggest live events on the Castlebar music calendar this Christmas. With the recent announcement that local band The New Social and Lisa Canny have been added to the bill this promises to be the hottest ticket in town over the Christmas holidays.
Having signed to Sony music Ireland, Hermitage Green have played to many packed venues in Ireland and the UK and there most certainly seems to be no stopping this band. Hermitage Green are an acoustic folk-rock group from Limerick. Formed in 2010, they quickly built up a large following through social media and relentless touring. In spite of any mainstream attention, their debut EP 'The Gathering' reached number 1 in the Irish iTunes charts in September 2012. Buoyed by this chart success and an increasing number of sell-out shows, the band undertook a world tour taking in Europe, Australia, the US, the Middle East and South Africa.
The band, though reluctant to categorise themselves, blend the narrative elements of bluegrass and traditional Irish music, with an arpeggio style owing as much to classical music as it does to heavy metal. Their curious arrangement of instruments, carried with fast-paced African percussion and four-part vocal harmony, give Hermitage Green a distinctive live sound, helping them to captivate audiences the around the world. This has been a massive year for the band, which saw the release of their album Save Your Soul and the recent series of acoustic live EPs.
