Exciting times are in store at Westport House as it prepares to open its magical Christmas experience, Winter Wonderland and Christmas Carnival, running from Saturday November 26 to January 8.
Winter Wonderland features the new format of a guided experience this holiday season, and is full of festive family fun. Families will enjoy storytime with Mrs Claus, gingerbread man decorating, face painting, a personalised chat with Santa Claus himself, followed by yuletide log making, free drinks for everyone, and a ride around the grounds on the Westport Train. It is no wonder this event was shortlisted for Best Santa Experience in the Boots Maternity and Infant magazine awards this year. Advanced booking is strongly advised at www.WestportHouse.ie for this popular event.
Europe’s largest mobile ferris wheel comes to Westport
New for 2016, the Christmas Carnival will feature the largest mobile ferris wheel in Europe – at 36 meters tall, it makes the stunning historic house look like a cottage. The views of the heritage town, Clew Bay, Croagh Patrick, and the estate are awesome. The carnival also includes a range of more grounded rides including chair-o-planes, bumper cars, Formula One, and hot air balloon and airplane rides. Visitors will also have the chance to win cuddly toys to take home. And there will be plenty of hot refreshments to enjoy such as warming drinks, traditional German doughnuts, and ham sausages cooked on a free-swinging grill over an open fire.
