i102-104 ladies are doing it for themselves

The saying may go sisters are doing it for themselves but i102-104’s female presenters have proven that they have the wow factor with growing radio listenership figures.

According to the latest listenership survey published by the TNS/MRBI, i102-104, the west and north west’s PPI award-winning regional radio station not only has concrete evidence that it is the fastest growing radio station in Ireland, but its three female presenters have all seen a massive increase in listenership.

The survey covers the period from February 7 2008 (station launch date ) to December 31 2008 and shows that i102-104’s key measurement has increased 230 per cent in the last six months. The station, which broadcasts in counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Longford, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, has secured a market share of 16.5 per cent among its core target market of 15 to 34 year olds. To achieve this, the radio station has reached an audience in excess of 103,000 people each week.

On top of this, i102-104’s breakfast programme i Wake Up With Louise, presented by Louise McSharry, has seen two thirds of an increase in listenership since the last survey with an average quarter hour of 5,000 listeners compared to 3,000 six months ago.

i102-104’s daily bilingual chart show Ar Éileamh, presented by Connemara native Barbara Nic Dhonnacha between 7pm and 10pm weekdays, has seen a 20 per cent increase in listenership per average quarter hour since the last survey, from 5,000 to 6,000 listeners, something Barbara is delighted about.

Meanwhile, the station’s popular late night talk show presented by Mary McGill has seen a 33 per cent increase in listenership per average quarter hour since the last TNS/MRBI survey six months ago. Mary, who brings a fresh look to daily topics Sunday to Thursday nights between 10pm and 1am, said she was thrilled to have attracted so many new listeners. “We approach topics in a fun, engaging and creative way so that listeners can interact, learn and also be entertained,” said Mary explaining that the emphasis of the show was on entertainment and having fun.
