Killala based company Carr and Sons Seafood Limited was honored with the Best in Mayo Award at Blas na hÉireann. The company was also awarded a gold for its Hot Smoked Salmon Sensation with its unique blend of flavours which is characteristic of the Carr and Sons Seafood name.
In addition, Dunnes Stores was awarded a bronze medal for its own brand of hot smoked salmon which is produced by Carr and Sons Seafood. Carr and Sons Seafood is renowned for its premium range of high quality ready to eat seafood products which include salmon, mackerel, kippers, prawns, sea trout, Salmon Sensations, and mussels to both the Irish and export market. Recent investment in their plant has seen the business go from strength to strength, and they now employ 75 people.
Ann Gallagher, finance department received the awards on behalf of Carr and Sons, said: “We are delighted with our success, winning gold at Blas na hÉireann endorses our product and places it in the highest point possible within the retail market. The Carr and Sons Seafood brand is highly recognised amongst Irish consumers and retailers as they know they can be assured of a top quality Irish product.”
