St Gerald’s College are continuing their quest for Formula One glory with transition year students beginning their task next month to compete in the Formula One schools challenge, under the team name West Coast Racers.
The competition, which is open to all secondary schools, is to design and manufacture CO2-powered racing cars. Student teams will compete against each other in a national championship to determine the best engineered and fastest car in Ireland.
Participating students will get the chance to use the latest advancements in engineering and design through computer-aided design, which has become a fundamental part of the Leaving Certificate in design and communication graphics and technology.www.westcoastracers.ie
