It was not an easy decision to call of the scheduled round of senior and some of the intermediate club championship action this weekend for all involved, but the decision was made in the best interest of preparing the senior side for the All Ireland final. Five games in the intermediate championship have survived with Moy Davitts clash with Swinford, the meeting of Westport and Shrule-Glencorrib, and Belmullet and Burrishoole going by the wayside for a few weeks yet.
Group one
Tourmakeady v Kiltimagh
Sunday August 28 at 1pm
This game has little depending on the outcome. Kiltimagh have won two from two, seeing off both Moy Davitts and Swinford in the earlier rounds, so they will top the group no matter the result. As for their hosts, they are pointless at the bottom of the table and are heading for the relegation play-offs no matter what happens, but a win and a big performance will be a heartening result for them before those come around.

Group two
Ardnaree v Castlebar Mitchels B

Now this game is the one for winner takes all, but it will not be a spot in the last eight, it will be making sure that they are not in the relegation play-offs. Neither side have won a game yet so far in the their two outings, with Westport and Shrule Glencorrib accounting for both sides in the previous rounds. A draw will do Ardnaree as they will not be able to be separated on the head to head system and their scoring difference of -4 is two better off that Mitchels' of -6. Having finally come up from junior last year Ardnaree won't want to be heading back down again this year.

Group three
Bonniconlon v Mayo Gaels
Sunday August 28 at 1pm
Just like the previous game in group two, this is a game where the winner has the unusual prize of seeing their championship season end. Neither side has won a game from their opening two encounters, with Belmullet and Burisshole seeing them both off in the previous rounds. The visitors look to be in the strongest position with a scoring difference of just -5, while Bonniconlon are currently on -17. The east Mayo men have competed better with the big two in the group in the previous rounds and they will be looking to make sure they are still an intermediate side come next season this weekend, while Bonni will be looking to make home advantage count.

Group four
Parke v The Neale

The only group that sees both group games ahead is group four, and this is a group that is still very much in the melting pot. Three of the four sides are still in with a shout of making the last eight. Parke and Islandeady are currently both on three points with The Neale in second place. If The Neale win this one on the road, they will leapfrog Parke in the pecking order for a quarter-final spot, with Park then relying on Kilmaine to do them a favour against Islandeady. Both sides have met in the league in the recent past with The Neale getting the upper hand in that one and they will fancy their chances of doing so again, but Parke are one of those sides who you can never write off.

Islandeady v Kilmaine

One side has everything to play for and the other has nothing to play for in this one. Kilmaine are rooted to the bottom of the table in what has been a very tight group, with the spread between the four sides on scoring difference only eight points. Kilmaine could win this one, but it will do them no good in avoiding the relegation play-offs, The Neale are the only side they could pull level with thanks to Parke and Islandeady's draw in round one, and with The Neale beating Kilmaine in the opening round, they have the head to head advantage. So it's all about Islandeady just doing the right things and getting the win, or ensuring they are ahead of Parke on the scoring differnce charts come full time, if both they and their fellow west Mayo side lose.
