The board of Aurivo Co-operative Society has this week elected its chairman and vice chairman for 2016/18. Pat Duffy was elected as the chairman of the co-operative and Raymond Barlow was elected vice chairman. Pat Duffy is a dairy farmer from Gortletteragh, Leitrim. He holds a diploma in corporate direction (food business ) from UCC and has been a member of the Aurivo board since 2002, serving as vice chairman for six years from 2008 to 2014. Raymond Barlow is also a dairy farmer and is from Riverstown, Sligo. Mr Barlow joined the Aurivo board in 2014.
Pat Duffy paid tribute to the outgoing chairman, Tom Cunniffe, and vice chairman, Michael Brennan. He said: “Under Tom’s chairmanship, Aurivo has made substantive strides to strengthen the co-op across each of its business areas, delivering enhanced efficiencies and adding value through the acquisition of leading UK sports nutrition business, My Goodness Ltd, and the introduction of a new fixed milk price scheme.
“Aurivo has a very strong business with a lean operational footprint, especially strong global customer relationships, a strong innovation pipeline, an excellent team, and a strategic focus that positions Aurivo well for sustainable growth.
“However, global dairy markets continue to be challenging, impacting on our supplier base, and it’s vital for Aurivo and its owners that each part of the supply chain is strong enough to sustain volatile conditions. With that in mind, Aurivo will continue to focus on supporting our suppliers through our Farm Profitability Programme, maximising operational efficiencies and delivering on value-added opportunities,” he concluded.
