Well-known Galway-based singer Mary McPartlan plays Ballina Arts Centre this evening, Friday July 29. Her distinctive evocative voice, combined with a strong sense of her own musical personality, allows her to move easily between styles, ranging from her roots in the folk song tradition of her native Leitrim, to new and original works.
Her latest album, From Mountain to Mountain, is a tribute to the late legendary American song collector and folk singer Jean Ritchie, who was a defining figure in the history of the American folk revival in the 1950s. With special guests on the night this is a performance not to be missed. She will be in the Ballina Arts Centre tonight, Friday, at 8pm. Tickets cost €15/€12.
