Crossmolina centenary parade puts out call families of veterans

The organisers of the Crossmolina 1916 centenary parade have put a call out to all family members of 1916- 1921 volunteers, past and current serving members of An Garda Síochana, Prision Officers, Army, Navy, and Air Corps from the north Mayo area to come along and parade in their uniform in their celebration.

This parade sees serving members pass out in uniform in front of their family, friends, and community. The organisers will have a very special guest on the reviewing stand and the Garda Commissioner, Army Chief of staff, and Head of the Prison Service have been invited. Canadian Ambassador Kevin Vickers has indicated he will be attending and the retired Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy is to lead the retired Garda members. All those who take part will also receive a special commemorative medal which has been created for the event.

The event will take place on Sunday July 24 and the parade will form at 1.30pm at Crossmolina Deel Rovers GAA grounds and will proceed through Crossmolina town. For more information contact Cllr Michael Holmes on (087 ) 6849130 or email [email protected].
