Champion box player to teach in Westport

All-Ireland champion accordion player Daragh Healy will run an eight-week introduction to accordion playing course in Westport over the next two months. Healy is regarded as one of the best young box players in the country, having secured first place in the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil on the box in 2007.

This highly regarded music teacher will hold his classes in the Brackloon Drummin Community Centre on the Leenaun Road every Saturday afternoon from 12 noon to 1pm starting on Valentine’s Day.

The class, which is open to all ages, will focus on complete beginners for the first eight weeks with emphasis on getting started and basic introductory tunes. Registration for the classes can be made on the day or via booking at [email protected]. The eight-week course costs €80 (€10 per pupil per class ) and is limited to 10 people.
