Wild Atlantic Way Passport will help to promote Mayo tourism spots - Ring

Michael Ring, T.D., Minister of State for Regional Economic Development has stated that the new Wild Atlantic Way Passport, launched Friday, May 27, will help to promote tourism spots and visitor attractions in Mayo. “The new Wild Atlantic Way Passport is a great initiative and will really help to promote tourism spots and visitor attractions in Mayo. The Wild Atlantic Way Passport is designed to encourage repeat visits to Ireland’s coast and promote tourism in Mayo.

“Crucially the Passport will also help to promote visitor attractions in Mayo that tourists might not otherwise think to visit. The Passport serves as a handy tool to help tourists find the 188 Discovery Points along the beautiful route.

“The Wild Atlantic Way Passport can be purchased at over 130 selected An Post Offices along the Wild Atlantic Way route as well as at Dublin’s GPO and St Andrew’s Street Post Offices. The Passport will cost €10 and this includes free entry into a draw for a holiday of a lifetime along the Wild Atlantic Way. As they make their way along the route, tourists will be able to collect official stamps at the local Post Office to prove they have visited the local Discovery Point.

“The Wild Atlantic Way has been a huge success for tourism growth throughout the counties on our Western seaboard and it contributed to what was a record breaking year of tourism in 2015, with more than 8.5 million overseas visitors to Ireland. This Passport gives Fáilte Ireland a fantastic new opportunity to market the Wild Atlantic Way, which will really help to increase visitor numbers to Mayo.”
