Summer is finally starting to show its face around Mayo and in Ballina the local Rejoice Gospel Choir is primed to welcome the holiday season in style with the hosting of its annual summer concert next Friday, May 20.
Come along to the Twin Trees Hotel at 8pm that evening and soak up the summer-time buzz at what promises to be an inspirational night of musical celebration and fun.
Formed in 1999, this community choir sings regularly at Sunday mass in St Patrick's Church and has brought its music far and wide, sharing the joy, beauty, and spirituality of gospel style song while also fundraising for some very worthy causes along the way. The choir has also made guest appearances and provided musical entertainment at many significant events of local and national importance and have featured on television numerous times.
Fresh from acclaimed performances at the hugely successful 1916 Living History Market and the recent Darkness into Light run/walk in Ballina, Rejoice has been busy fine tuning an exciting and eclectic set list for the 2016 summer concert, with lots of novel surprises. The choir is set to continue its great fund raising record on the night as all concert proceeds will go to a very important local cause – the St Muredach's Cathederal restoration fund.
The choir is urging locals to come out in force to make the summer concert a sell-out that will, literally and metaphorically, raise the roof.
Tickets are available from the parish office at (096 ) 70555, from any choir member, or by calling (087 ) 9101910.
