Six men have been arrested this morning in Ballyhaunis following an number of incidents in the east Mayo town. There were up to 40 Gardai on duty in the town including members of the Armed Response Unit, while a funeral took place this morning.
Two men were injured in separate incidents in the town one of which took place in Devlis and the other on Abbey Street in the town. One man was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital, with what have been described as non life-threathing injuries.
The second man it is believed was attacked by a group of men near a filling station on the outskirts of the town, while a separate incident occurred when it is believed a car was rammed by another car close to the town centre.
The six men who have been arrested were detained in different garda station in the Mayo division following the incidents.
