Are you ready to rock with Pearl Jem? In what promises to be a great night of old school grunge music in Castlebar next Friday May 20 Ireland's greatest Pearl Jam Tribute (Pearl Jem ) come to play The Garbo's venue in Castlebar. It has been 25 years since the release of one of the greatest grunge albums of all time Ten, the album itself was released on the last day of August 1991. So in order to celebrate Finbar Hoban Presents... will be bringing one of Ireland’s most recognised Pearl Jam Tribute bands to the Garbo’s venue in Castlebar.
Since releasing Ten back in 1991, Pearl Jam have gone on to sell almost 100 million albums worldwide and secured a place in the hearts and minds of people globally. The music of Pearl Jam has, by now, shaped and inspired a whole generation, and this is something which Irish based Pearl Jem have not taken for granted, as a great attention to detail was given when preparing this show.
The sense of honesty in the interpretation of the music creates an insatiable atmosphere both onstage and throughout the expectant crowds. Formed after the demise of the band, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam broke into the mainstream with its debut album, Ten, in 1991. One of the key bands in the grunge movement of the early 1990s, over the course of the band's career, its members became noted for their refusal to adhere to traditional music industry practices, including refusing to make proper music videos or give interviews, and engaging in a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster. In 2006, Rolling Stone described the band as having "spent much of the nineties deliberately tearing apart their own fame”, but 25 years later the band are just as popular as ever.
As a means of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of Ten throughout 2016 Pearl Jem will be presenting a performance of the great album in its entirety from start to finish at Garbo's in Castlebar. To complement this a selection of tracks taken from every album in the Pearl Jam back catalogue right up to their most recent offering Lightning Bolt will also be included as part of the performance.
This show is truly a must see show for all Pearl Jam fans out there.. Whether it's the more melodic chilled out aspect of this two hour programme or the full on guitar driven songs you desire these lads have it covered. Support on the night comes from Still Alive, a local grunge band who will be performing tracks from various other grunge acts including Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. This promises to be a great night of grunge nostalgia for the county town.
