Ballinrobe's Alan Murphy ready to tell his tale

The anticipation for Ballinrobe native Alan Murphy’s first book Beyond The Spotlight is reaching fever pitch as he’s just shot the book cover in Hollywood, California. Alan, who is a popular presenter with Galway Bay FM, is gearing up for the nationwide release of his book this September. Beyond The Spotlight will explore the world of fame and celebrity and will feature interviews Alan has done with everyone from A-List superstars Charlize Theron and Martin Sheen to Mayo’s own Louis Walsh and Rory “Panti” O’Neill.

Alan has worked in the radio business for over 12 years and he is also a successful showbiz writer, having written for numerous publications both nationally and internationally. He signed an exclusive book deal with Book Hub Publishing last year and he’s been busy writing ever since.

He is just back from what he calls his “second home” of LA where he shot the cover for his book with renowned celebrity photographer Sean Black, who has photographed a whole host of stars, including Alicia Keys, The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki and screen legend Donna Mills. Alan told The Mayo Advertiser, “It was so much fun shooting the cover in LA. Sean is such an amazing photographer and the coolest guy. And we did it at the iconic APEX Studios so it was all very exciting. Pamela Anderson shot there a couple of days before me so it was just completely crazy. I can’t wait for everyone to see the cover!”

Alan is enjoying every minute of seeing his book come to life and confessed, “I’ve wanted to write a book ever since I was a little kid so it’s a complete dream come true to actually now be doing it. I’m absolutely loving the whole experience and I’m soaking it all up. There are so many fun stories in the book about people I’ve met and interviewed over the years like LaToya Jackson, Ryan Seacrest, Eddie Murphy and Paris Hilton. And now that the cover has been shot, it’s starting to make everything so real. Roll on September.” Beyond The Spotlight will be available in all good book shops from September.
