Mayo Arts Collaborative's exhibition, Kathleen Lynn: Insider on the Outside, continues at Custom House Studios every day until Monday, May 2.
Kathleen Lynn: Insider on the Outside, running concurrently in five visual arts venues around Mayo, is a creative investigation into the life and work of Kathleen Lynn by 13 contemporary Irish artists. The exhibition is curated by Catherine Marshall.
An exhibition based on the life of Major John Mc Bride opens on May 5th from 6pm and will run every day until May 29. Born in Westport and trained as a doctor, MacBride abandoned that profession in favour of working with a chemist. He was not a member of the Irish Volunteers but offered his services to Rising leader Thomas MacDonagh, and was at Jacob’s biscuit factory when that post was surrendered on Sunday, April 30, 1916. He was executed on May 5 at Kilmainham.
An exhibition of photographs entitled 'Out On A Western Plain' by award winning photographer Michael Mc Laughlin will open on Thursday, May 5, at 7.30. The guest speaker on the evening will be Peter Hynes, chief executive officer at Mayo County Council. The exhibition will run every day until May 29.
