Michael Ring T.D., Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, has been informed by Irish Water that the contracts for Belmullet Sewerage Scheme have now been awarded.
The successful contractors are Roadbridge and EPS. This is a €9 million development for the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme.
Minister of State Michael Ring stated:“The work for this project will commence this summer. The official signing of the contracts will hopefully take place within the next week to ten days.
Minister of State Michael Ring continued: " When Fianna Fáil were in Government for over 20 years, nothing was done to progress this scheme. At every Election they promised this, but it was never delivered. The Belmullet Sewerage Scheme has now been delivered by Fine Gael and was not just an Election promise”.
Minister Ring said he is delighted that the project, which has been mooted for the past 20 years, will finally begin this year.
"This is an issue which Cllr. Gerry Coyle and I have been working on for some time and the fact it will now progress this year is very positive news for the area," concluded Minister Ring.
