There are two contrasting shows coming up in Westport's Town Hall Theatre next weekend.
Adrian Knight, one of Ireland’s foremost comedy hypnotists, and a play written by the pupils of Killeen National School called 1916 – The Road to Independence will feature at the theatre on April 8 and 10 respectively.
World renowned comedy hypnotist, Adrian Knight, rolls into Westport on Friday April 8, as part of his nationwide tour for 2016. Knight has firmly established himself as one of the top elite stage hypnotists around today and is also a fast-thinking comedian who milks humour out of every situation that arises.
Tickets for Knight's show cost €20/€18 and are available online at www.westporttheatre.com or at the booking office. The show begins at 8pm sharp.
On Sunday afternoon, April 10, the fifth and sixth class pupils of Killeen National School Louisburgh will present 1916 – The Road to Independence, a play written by the pupils in commemoration of the 1916 Rising.
The play is a true community effort, with many in the school and wider Louisburgh community contributing to the hugely successful and high quality production. The story is told from the perspective of an ordinary Dublin family experiencing the emotional and practical implications of participation in the Rising. It offers a poignant and humorous insight into the life of the family members and a chance to look with new eyes at Ireland's history.
Kieran Cullen, an Irish artist and sculptor from Offaly, is currently exhibiting his specially commissioned art work, 'The Men and Women of 1916': hand sketches of well-known public figures including Michael Collins, Thomas McDonagh, Joseph Plunkett, Countess Markiewicz and Pádraig Pearse.
He will be making a special visit to the theatre gallery space the same day as the Killeen National School presentation to highlight his exhibition, which is running up to the end of April.
Tickets for adults cost €8 and €5 for children. A family of four ticket can be purchased for €20 and can only be booked directly with the Box Office of Westport Town Hall Theatre on (098 ) 28459/(085 ) 8779796. The show begins at 3pm sharp.
