Anam Cara Mayo will be holding a launch of information pack for bereaved parents in Castlebar on Tuesday, April 12 in the Harlequin Hotel, Castlebar at 11am. The information pack was developed and written by bereaved parents themselves and contains practical information on what helped them to get through the first weeks and months.
With research showing that 6 out of every 10 Irish people know someone whose child has died. The pack includes information booklets on A Mothers Grief, A Dads Grief, Coping with Sudden Death, Supporting My Family, Self Care, Milestones and Challenges and Adults grieving the death of a brother or a sister. Along with the Anam Cara Videos, which can be accessed at www.anamcara.ie/videos this resource will be a great support and source of information for newly bereaved parents and those supporting them after the death of their child. Anam Cara is urging all frontline professionals who come into contact with newly bereaved parents – social workers, funeral directors, An Garda Síochána, HR managers, palliative care teams, doctors, nurses – to get in touch to order the pack. RSVP to Hugh at [email protected] by Monday, April 11.
