Last week Coillte hosted a tree identification walk attended by Culleens National School as part of ESB Tree Week 2016. This was one of the events that Coillte hosted as part Tree Week 2016, along with a series of nature walks and tree planting events to inspire people to experience the positive role that trees play in our lives. In addition Coillte donated 15,000 trees that were planted by community groups and schools all around the country, bringing thousands of people together to get their hands dirty, and add more green to neighbourhoods all around the country.
Niamh Hennessy from Coillte said, “We were delighted to be able to host an event in Belleek Wood, attended by Culleens National School as part of ESB Tree Week. Belleek Wood can be enjoyed by everyone all year round.” Tree Week is an annual weeklong festival organised by the Tree Council of Ireland. It has been supported for over a quarter of a century by Coillte, who have donated in excess of 450,000 trees in support of the initiative. The trees come from Coillte nurseries in Wicklow and Carlow and are distributed via local authorities to schools, community groups and others.
