Scór na bPaistí

The County Final of Scór na bPaistí will be held in Breaffy GAA Centre on Saturday April 16 at 2pm. This promises to be a fantastic final with winners coming through from the four divisional finals held over recent weekends. In the words of one adjudicator "The standard has never been so high " so with that in mind we can look forward in anticipation to a wonderful final.

Flower arranging 

Easter Flower arranging evening in Curam on Wednesday, March 23 at 7.30pm. Learn creative ways to use flowers and candles to make beautiful arrangments for Easter. Admission €5 .Demonstration given by Blathanna Florist Claremorris. All arrangements will be raffled on the night.

Mayo Stroke Support Group

The next Mayo Stroke Support Group meeting will take place on Thursday March 31 from 11am to 1pm in the Harlequin Hotel in Castlebar. The topic covered will be 'Rebuilding life after stroke' and it will focus on the emotional and social issues which arise following stroke for both stroke survivors and carers/family members. Passion play at Ballintubber Abbey

For the past 27 years those who have witnessed this moving drama have been stirred by the story as it is portrayed by the people of Ballintubber. Many have come back year after year to experience it and have brought others with them. If you have not seen it perhaps you would spare one hour on Monday March 21, Tuesday March 22, or Wednesday March 23. The play gets under way at 9pm each evening. As it takes place outdoors it would be advisable to bring suitable clothing.

Fleadh closing date

Competitors are reminded that the closing date for entries for Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo 2016 is Friday April 1. This year's fleadh will be held in Ballinrobe on the weekend of Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8 with the dancing taking place on the previous Monday, May 2. Entries, on official entry forms, to be sent to Fleadh Secretary, Catherine Hynes, Mountain, Aughamore, Ballyhaunis, Co Mhaigh Eo. Free Brownie and Ladybird places

The Irish Girl Guides South Mayo District have received a grant from the Irish Youth Foundation (Children’s Hour Grant ), which means it can offer a number of free Brownies places in Bohola and Claremorris and free Ladybird places in Bohola. The free places will cover the cost of membership and uniform. The places are offered to girls from low income families. Brownies is open to girls aged between seven and 10 years and Ladybirds aged five to seven years. Swinford Tidy Towns annual Good Frdiay Spring clean

Swinford Tidy Towns annual National Spring Clean will take place on Good Friday, March 25 at 11am. If you have an hour or two to spare, please come along, all help is greatly appreciated. Volunteers will be meeting at the No Name Club on Chapel Street Swinford at 11am on Good Friday morning. Tabards, gloves, litter pickers, rubbish and recycling bags will be provided by Swinford Tidy Towns from An Taisce on the day. There was a very successful clean up last year in the National Spring Clean, with the help of many volunteers and 24th Mayo Swinford Scout Troop along with Scoil Muire and Treasa Green Schools. Workshop on Christian decision making @ Knock Shrine

Jesuit theologian, author, and lecturer Fr Brian Grogan is leading a new workshop called Making Good Decisions: A Beginner’s Guide tomorrow, March 19, at Knock Shrine. The workshop will use examples and case studies to explore the dynamics of Christian decision making. Sessions on the day will include ‘Decisions, Decisions, Decisions, How do You Make Them?’ and ‘Does Good Decision Making Involve God?’ Registration is at 9.30am at Knock House Hotel. The workshop concludes at 3pm. The day costs €30, which includes lunch and tea/coffee breaks. Booking is advised. Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail

CPHT will be doing their registration at 9am in Balla Community Centre and walk commences at 9.30am today, March 18. Entry fee €20 one day or €50 for the three days. Groups, clubs, and individual walkers are welcome. Complimentary refreshments and courtesy bus provided.

Midnight walk

Once again Kilfian GAA will hold its annual Novel Midnight Walk 2016 around the Breaffy Loop on Good Friday, March 25, setting off from the clubhouse on the dot of midnight. This is now the only midnight walk in Ireland. The registration fee is €10 for adults, €5 for children, with a special fee of €20 for a family.

Clothes for Moldova

Íde Jennings is assisting Tom Lennon, United Christian Aid, who is a resident of Glenisland, Castlebar, in this appeal. He personally distributes the items from the container in the village of Iasiana, Poliana, in southern Moldova. This collection takes place on Saturday April 2 from 10am to 4pm in Hollymount Village, Co Mayo. Items (in any condition ) needed includes clothing - for men, women and children, shoes, boots, etc, for men, women, and children. Sheets, blankets, curtains and towels. Household goods such as delph and cutlery and babies' clothes - new, worn, or old, baby equipment. Please note duvets and pillow donations must be new for customs purposes. If you are in a position to donate a pack of nappies, incontinence pads, basic toiletries, eg, soaps, shampoos, toothbrush/toothpaste, etc, or packets of socks, hats, scarfs and gloves for all ages, this is also much appreciated. Gaelic4Girls is coming to Ballinrobe

Ballinrobe Ladies Gaelic Football club is delighted to announce details of an exciting new programme called Gaelic4Girls that is commencing on April 15. Gaelic4Girls is initially an eight week programme aimed at increasing participation in ladies Gaelic football. The programme targets girls aged from eight to 12 years who are not currently registered with a Ladies Gaelic Football Club. It will be held in Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, every Friday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Castlebar markets

Cumann na dTuismitheoirí Coláiste Muire Crannchur 50/50
